Hundreds of final-year students across various departments at HIBMAT University Institute of Buea (HUIB) have officially commenced the defense of their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) projects. The academic exercise is taking place at Campus B in Molyko, Buea.
The event, which began on Thursday, July 17th, 2025, marks a major milestone in the academic journey of the students. Parents, guardians, and invited guests gathered to witness the culmination of months of rigorous research and innovation as students presented their projects before panels of lecturers and external examiners.

The project defense is a critical component of the B.Tech curriculum and offers students a unique opportunity to demonstrate the practical application of the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout their time at HUIB. The exercise also serves to showcase the university’s commitment to producing highly skilled, industry-ready professionals.

On the opening day, students from the departments of Computer Engineering, Hotel Management and Catering, Project Management, Logistics and Transport Management, Civil Engineering, and Insurance presented their final-year projects. The sessions were held in various lecture halls on campus under the close supervision of staff from the University of Bamenda, which mentors all B.Tech programs offered at HUIB.

The defense is scheduled to run for two days, during which students from all B.Tech programs will have the opportunity to present and defend their work. Each presentation is being carefully assessed by academic supervisors, industry professionals, and representatives of the mentoring university to ensure compliance with national academic standards.
This academic exercise not only highlights the excellence of HUIB’s professional programs but also reflects the university’s strong partnership with the University of Bamenda, ensuring quality assurance and relevance in every program offered.
