The storied HIBMAT University Institute of Buea (HUIB) Amphitheater at Campus B was alive with excitement and anticipation this Saturday, November 29th, as the institution hosted its 15th Matriculation Ceremony. Students, resplendent in their matriculation outfits, filled the venue to capacity, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere that reflected the pride and commitment of the university community.
Representatives of the Vice-Chancellors of the Universities of Bamenda and Buea were present, underscoring the significance of the occasion. From HND students to Direct BSc, Top-up BSc, BTech, and MBA candidates, all were warmly welcomed into the HUIB family and reminded of the responsibilities that come with the privilege of studying at a leading professional university. Students were encouraged to make the most of the state-of-the-art facilities, manage their time wisely, and choose their companions carefully to foster personal and academic growth.
In his keynote address, Dr. Jude Chilaka, President and Founder of HUIB, welcomed the freshmen and returning students, highlighting the university’s long-standing record of academic excellence. He urged students to uphold and build upon these achievements and assured them that HUIB has provided all necessary resources to ensure a smooth and successful academic year. Dr. Chilaka encouraged students to remain focused, avoid distractions, and remember that their primary purpose in Buea is to study and make their families and the institution proud.
Adding inspiration to the ceremony, the keynote speaker, Jerry Engang Uyengifeng, HUIB 2014 batch alumnus, Branch Manager of MICRE-INSA PLC, co-founder of Diplomatic Secondary School, and Secretary-General of HIBAA, shared his personal journey. He recounted how, like many of the new students, he initially joined HUIB simply to earn a degree but emerged as a leader in his industry. He emphasized that dedication, hard work, and proper use of the opportunities available at HUIB are key to turning ambitions into achievements.
During the matriculation proceedings, students were reminded that by choosing HUIB, they had made the best decision for their education, entering a community where dreams are nurtured and realized through commitment and effort. As they took the matriculation oath, each pledged to uphold the values of the institution and to respect its rules and regulations wherever life takes them.
The ceremony concluded with students departing the amphitheater filled with enthusiasm and determination, vowing to follow in the footsteps of HUIB alumni by striving for excellence in their academic pursuits and beyond.
