The Secretary General at the Ministry of Higher Education and Personal Representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Gabsa, has called on graduates of HIBMAT University Institute of Buea (HUIB) to serve Cameroon with love, loyalty, and patriotism.
Professor Gabsa made the appeal on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, during the 14th Convocation Ceremony of the institution, held at the storied Amphitheatre of Campus B, Molyko, Buea. The ceremony was heavily attended and brought together distinguished personalities from the academic, administrative, traditional, religious, and corporate sectors.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister of State, Professor Gabsa praised the professional and industry-driven training offered at HUIB, saluted the vision and leadership of the President and Founder, Dr. Jude Chilaka, and encouraged graduates to place their skills at the service of national development. He urged them to be disciplined, innovative, and patriotic wherever their careers may take them, reminding them that Cameroon needs them.
The amphitheatre was filled to capacity as close to 1,000 students graduated from HND, B.Tech, BSc, and MBA programmes in the presence of thousands of parents, guests, and stakeholders. The graduates formally bade farewell to university life as they transitioned into the job market in Cameroon and abroad.
Activities began early with a Holy Mass, celebrated by the University Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Solomon Lyonga, who called on students to be reflections of good deeds and moral integrity wherever they go.

During the academic session proper, the President and Founder, Dr. Jude Chilaka, welcomed guests, representatives of mentor universities, traditional and religious authorities, and state officials for honouring the invitation and sharing in what he described as a historic moment for the institution. The ceremony was broadcast live on DMRTV and streamed online.

Dr. Chilaka highlighted the academic achievements and resilience of the graduating students and charged them to remain true ambassadors of HUIB, an institution renowned for excellence, professionalism, and innovation. He reminded them that they were entering a critical chapter of life, following in the footsteps of thousands of HUIB alumni who today occupy leadership positions in various sectors. He also encouraged them to actively join and strengthen the vibrant HUIB Alumni Network.
The President further announced key institutional milestones, including the placement of HUIB students in partner universities abroad on 50% scholarships, the construction of a permanent site for HUIB Douala Campus, and the completion of works at Campus C in Buea, which will house the School of Health Sciences.

One of the major highlights of the ceremony was the presence of the Managing Director of UBA Cameroon, Mr. Jude Anele, who delivered the keynote address. The seasoned banking executive urged graduates to embrace technology, digital innovation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as essential tools for competitiveness in today’s job market. He encouraged them to build strong professional profiles on platforms such as LinkedIn, take advantage of remote work opportunities, and leverage digital technology to create wealth beyond traditional boundaries. He also praised the long-standing partnership between UBA and HUIB, noting that it continues to open doors for graduates of the institution.
Representatives of the University of Buea and the University of Bamenda, HUIB’s mentor universities, expressed satisfaction with the quality of training received by the students and reaffirmed their unwavering support to HUIB in its mission to train competent professionals across diverse fields.

In total, about 1,000 students from different departments and schools took turns to take the Graduation Oath, after which they were officially declared graduates of HIBMAT University Institute of Buea, marking the successful conclusion of the 14th Convocation Ceremony.
