HIBMAT University Institute of Buea – HUIB is a private professional University Institute specialized in delivering contemporary careers in Business Management, Engineering, and Health Sciences relevant to the needs of a rapidly changing and growing economy like Cameroon

Our aim is to offer our students quality training and value for their money. We achieve this by ensuring our study programs are systematically monitored and updated to incorporate new developments and theories. Equipped with modern computing facilities and a library with extensive study materials, we currently operate 2 campuses in Buea and 1 in Douala.

Our Mission

Derived from our ambitions, our mission at HUIB is to:

Demystify technology, train managers, and technologists
Produce skills and expertise in technology to attract foreign investment and create jobs and wealth that can sustain our local economy.
Provide opportunities for quality professional education, so that we may have productive Accountants, Managers, Bankers, Engineers, Marketers, etc to serve Cameroon and beyond.

MINISTERIAL AUTHORIZATION

HUIB is a private professional University Institute authorized by the Ministry of Higher Education with Creation and Opening Order numbers 11/0041/MINESUP and 10/04333/L/MINESUP/DDES/ESUP/SER of 03 Aug. 2010 as the Higher Institute of Business Management and Technology (HIBMAT). In April 2022, the Ministry of Higher Education restructured HIBMAT from a higher institute into a University institute, changing the name from HIBMAT to HIBMAT University Institute of Buea (HUIB) with Ministerial Authorisation number 22-02654/L/MINESUP/DDES/SD-ESUP/SDA/LAN of 20 April 2022. This means that we are recognized as a Bona Fide University Institute.

About Mentorship

HIBMAT University Institute of Buea (HUIB) operates on the Anglo-Saxon style of education. This accounts for why our Institution is mentored by the two giant English Universities in Cameroon – the renowned University of Buea (UB) and the University of Bamenda (UBa).

At HUIB, we offer the two-year HND program for GCE Advanced level holders, a certification program offered only by institutions accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education. This means HUIB is a fully accredited University Institute.

For B-Tech and MBA, HUIB offers these certification programs under the mentorship of the University of Bamenda (UBa). An Extension of the Specific Partnership Agreement (SPA) was signed on December 30, 2020, to this effect.

On June 17, 2021, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Buea welcomed the HUIB team for the signing of the Framework and the Specific Agreements in mentoring HUIB in offering the one-year top-up B.Sc and the three-year B.Sc. programs. These agreements were signed by the various Vice Chancellors (UBa, Prof Theresia Nkuo Akenji and UB, Prof Horace Ngomo Manga), and the President/CEO of HIBMAT, Jude A. Chilaka.
